New Coaches Join EPIC's Coaching Staff

Rachel Ransom will be coaching EPIC 09 Girls’ team, Dash. Coach Rachel is an EPIC Alumni and is excited to give back to the club where it all started for her!

After starting soccer with AYSO, she played travel soccer on the JCYSL Thundercats for a year or so and then joined the EPIC Pride until she was 18 years old. During that time, EPIC Pride won many tournaments, including state tournaments, which led them to the Regional Tournament three different years. In addition to EPIC, she played for the West Virginia ODP team for two years competing against teams from states all over the country. In high school, she played varsity soccer at Jefferson High School all four years. Lastly, she played soccer at West Virginia Wesleyan College for one year on a scholarship and the team won the MEC Tournament that year.

This will be Rachel’s first official coaching position, achieving a goal she has had since childhood. Rachel explains, “I want to coach because it gives me the opportunity to give back to the amazing EPIC program that I was lucky enough to be a part of for many years of my childhood. Playing for EPIC helped shape me into the person I am today, and I hope I’m able to have that effect on the players that I come across too. Playing a sport with a supportive coach is imperative, and I am looking forward to building up and challenging the Dash girls! I’m so excited to begin my coaching career with the EPIC Dash! It feels right coming back to where my career started 15 years ago.”

Rachel’s full-time job is teaching 5th graders in Berkeley County, WV. When she’s not coaching or teaching, Rachel can be found working out, shopping, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.

Coach Cadye Picklesimer is joining the EPIC Girls 06 United Team. Cadye began playing soccer when she was about 4 years old. She played club ball in Atlanta with Tophat Soccer Club, competing in the Region 3 Premier League and Southern Premier League. Her team won consecutive league titles as well State Cup championships. This led to multiple Regionals appearances. In highschool, she played soccer at Grayson High School in Grayson, GA - a AAAAAA school. Her team went to the playoffs all four years, where she led the team to the state championship her senior year, won the first region title in school history, and became an all-region player and goalkeeper of the year.  Cadye finished her soccer career playing 4 years of Division One soccer at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina.

Why EPIC? Cadye says, “I am excited to join Epic as a coach because I love the game and I want to give back. Soccer has given me so many opportunities, and it has shaped me into the person I am today.”

When she’s not coaching, you can find Cadye traveling, trying new things, working out, or watching reality tv.

Coaches Rachel and Cadye - thanks for dedicating your time to give back to youth soccer! EPIC is glad to have you join our team!
