All players must register prior to assessments. There is no cost to attend evaluations. This year, players will register and attend tryouts based on their birth year. Depending on the total number of registrants, calendar years may be combined to form teams and EPIC will also take into account previous team makeup and level of play when determining teams. Playing up is also still available in certain situations. The coaches affected and the Director of Coaching will make these determinations and will take into consideration a family’s interest and previous history in this area.
All players should plan to attend both days of assessments. If your player is unavailable to attend either session, please contact the Director of Coaching to schedule an alternate evaluation.
We are excited for the fall and look forward to you joining us. EPIC has new fields, new club-centric initiatives, and a renewed focus on raising the level of soccer for all players in the Eastern Panhandle.
A. EPIC Developmental Academy Program is for players U5 to U10. The EDAP program runs August through the following May. There are no tryouts held to join the program, simply sign up. There are 3 options available for Academy beginning Fall 2017: Academy Lil' Kickers: ages U5/U6, Academy: ages U7/U8, and Academy Pro: ages U8/U9.
If slots are available, you can register (click here) at any time.
B. EPIC Prep Program is for players in divisions U11 to U14. The player will have the same experiences as other travel team members but without the commitment of travel games. A player may choose to play travel games at some point in the year if it is agreed upon by the team's coaching staff.
C. Travel Soccer Program (U10-U19) is for players who make a decision to commit to the number of practices and game opportunities in the Fall and Spring that is provided and supported by the EPIC Soccer Club.
What do I (parent/guardian) need to bring to tryouts?
Complete and submit the on-line registration form to fill out prior to tryouts. (Each player will receive a number at tryouts).
What does my child need to bring to tryouts?
They should be dressed in clothing appropriate for the weather, with socks covering their shin guards, and cleats when they report to the field. Bring a ball and more water than you think you need.
What age group can my child tryout out for?
All players will report to the evaluator for their age (see the age matrix) and gender appropriate group, regardless of where they played the previous season. Players are evaluated based on their skills for their age group and how they relate to their peers.
What if my child wants to “play up”?
The player will be evaluated by the EPIC Director of Coaching (or their designated representative), the Coach of the age appropriate team, and the Coach of the next age group up to determine what would be best for the development of the player.
